#9 Selected Poem

1. Compare the two poems. How are they alike? What is the tone? What is the imagery? What is the symbolism of each poem. Write a paragraph comparing the two and cite lines from the poem to support your answer.

The two poems The lamb and The Tyger are very similar they are both in forms of questions the author is asking the lamb and the Tyger Who made thee and What Immortal Hand or eye dare frame thy fearful symmetry? as of to ask who made you? what human hand or eye had the nerve to create such a fearful balance of form. the tone of this two poems are smooth and anxious to find the creator of this two animals. I believe the symbolism of these two poems is that of spirituality its talking about how beautiful we all are and who created us as in talking about god.

2. Compare To an athlete Dying young pg 965 to one and twenty pg 964 these are two separate views on youth. What is the advice of the wise man? what was the advice in To an athlete dying young?

In one and twenty the wise man's advice was to stay true to your self don't always give your all to something because you might get hurt and in To An Athlete Dying Young I believe the advice was that don't always count on people cause some of them are with you though the good times celebrating with you but when the bad times comes you don't see them to help you through it.

3. Read Do Not Go Gently Into The Good Night- 1088 What are the images of nature in this poem? What does the speaker mean by the good night? What does this poem mean to you? Write a paragraph.

4. Go to wikipedia and read the summery of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. After reading the summary, go to page 765 and read lines 610-617. how do these lines represent the moral of the poem?
